Cosmetic dental contouring is a simple, painless procedure which uses small drills or lasers to remove some of the tooth’s enamel to alter its shape/length.

Problems contouring fixes:

  • Worn or uneven teeth
  • Pitted tooth surfaces or long teeth
  • Small chips and overlapping teeth
  • Teeth that are out of proportion

Dental contouring procedure

  • An x-ray of teeth is taken to analyse the dental pulp.
  • An assessment of the bone to ensure there’s enough to support teeth.
  • Enamel is removed using a paper disk to file teeth into shape.
  • Patients are unlikely to experience tooth sensitivity after the procedure.
  • No prior consultation is required

How much tooth contouring costs

At our London practice, tooth contouring typically costs between £100-£300 per tooth, which can vary depending on the number of teeth that need reshaping or the extent of reshaping required.

Our prices start from £295 per tooth.

0% dental finance is available on any treatment costing upwards of £350.

Procedure

A relatively affordable treatment, tooth contouring is a one-hour-long procedure that can make teeth appear subtly square or rounder to achieve a more balanced and even smile.

Whilst tooth reshaping is a safe and minor procedure when performed by an experienced dentist, it does require enamel removal, which is non-reversible.

In the case of larger alterations to your smile, it’s best not to contour the teeth as they can become weaker, so alternative procedures are recommended in the case of bigger changes.

Don’t want to file teeth down?

Tooth contouring is not the only way we can reshape your teeth.

For example, if you want to avoid invasive dentistry completely, you can opt for composite bonding, which uses resin applied to the tooth in layers to change its shape and size.

However, we would have to make the other teeth relatively the same size as long teeth.

Composite veneers might also be your first choice if you want to make your smile without causing any harm.

The minimally invasive method is a non-permanent procedure that can treat several problems with the smile in one from just £350 per tooth.
