The Cost Of Dental Implants (UK)

The average cost of a dental implant in the UK is around £3,000.

Our implants are priced £50 cheaper than the UK average, which is highly competitive for a central dental practice in London.

Many private practices throughout London have priced their dental implant prosthetics and surgeries differently.

There will always be a base cost for the implant titanium screw itself, abutment and crown, with the surgery, dentist time and any preliminary work charged additionally.

Guide to Dental implant costs

What’s Included In The Cost Of Dental Implants?
  • When paying for systems like All on 4, all your implants and abutments will be included in one fee, whereas individual implants are charged per tooth.
  • The dentist time and an experienced implant clinician who places dental implants daily. See our work with complex cases.
  • Your check-ups, appointments, x-rays and scans.
  • Aftercare, post-operative care and follow-up appointments.
  • Included for free is a consultation with our treatment coordinator. Assessments by implant dentists are charged extra as their time is very valuable.
Choosing a dentist ‘near me’ is always best as the implant process includes several appointments.
Factors That Might Impact Your Cost

Before discovering the cost, it’s important to determine whether you qualify for dental implant treatment because not everyone is a good candidate. If you’ve been ignoring missing teeth for some time, the bone in your jaw has likely begun to deplete (which can happen within a few weeks of losing a tooth).

And whilst Mint Dental Clinic has multiple implant-based solutions that allow patients to receive dental implants without needing pre-implant procedures like bone grafts and sinus lifts, you’ll still need to be assessed beforehand.

  • The patient has sufficient bone density in the jaw to securely hold an implant for 20+ years.
  • Patients have good oral health and hygiene practices, showing no signs or symptoms of gum disease.
  • Tooth decay present in the mouth has been treated effectively.

Implant assessments allow our dentists to evaluate the condition of your oral health and bone jaw density. But they also allow patients to further their education around implants and learn which implant system will be the most successful and fit their lifestyle.

Why The Cost Might Differ

Dental implants are very rarely redeemable via the NHS.

It might be confusing for patients to see different prices from practice to practice, but it’s important to remember that implant surgery is generally considered a bespoke service as each patient has different needs and requirements.

One London patient, for example, might have ample bone quality, where an implant can be fitted immediately.

Another patient might require a dental bone graft procedure to place the implant, increasing the overall cost of their reconstruction treatment. After a consultation with an implant dentist, you will be delivered a treatment plan that will outline the procedure.

Paying For Your Dental Implant Treatment

Most patients don’t know that whilst the implant treatment costs might seem overwhelming, you’ll still pay in instalments even if you choose not to undertake finance options.

Typically 50% of the final payment is taken before your implant surgery, and as there is a period of three months of healing time, we take the following 50% once this stage is completed.

Only when we place the crown will patients need to pay the remaining balance of their treatment. We find that this has helped patients break down the cost of their treatment and afford it more easily with a break in between.

What Affects The Price Of Dental Implants?
  • The number of implants being placed.
  • The type of implant brand and system selected (premium brands that require no bone are more expensive).
  • The experience of the clinician – there is no such thing as an implant specialist, but there are specific dentists with higher expertise in placing dental implants successfully because of their further education and experience.
  • Clinics that dedicate their entire practice to dental implants.
  • Pre-implant procedures or additional treatments are required before implant surgery.
  • The custom-made crown attached to the dental implant is custom-made and often hand-crafted by ceramists.
Making Your Treatment More Affordable

Dental implants are not cheap because they are the most advanced form of tooth replacement in today’s dentistry. Dental implants are long-term, tooth-like and function just like natural teeth would. Therefore, they come at a cost. This might lead patients to shop around for their dental implants and even go abroad. As reputable dentists, we would have to advise against such measures.

Cheaper implants are cheaper for a reason. And in some cases, people travelling abroad, who face complications or problems, might find it difficult to find a UK dentist to rectify the work back home as foreign dentists might use different systems, materials and products.

For example, we’ve had patients with metal plates exposed in their mouths who were turned away by many great practices. However, at Mint Dental, we do our best to help where we can and are known to take on and handle complex cases. Call 020 7928 4474.
