Invisalign is Not Complicated
If you’re interested in Invisalign’s clear aligners, you’ll likely want to know more about the treatment process.
Do not let misinformation about Invisalign prevent you from having your teeth fixed.
Platinum Invisalign dentists from Mint Dental are here to dish the facts in this straight-laced guide to the Invisalign process.
1. Assessing your suitability
With Invisalign, you do not need to undergo long and arduous appointments – the entire process is designed to be swift, accurate and convenient.
- The first step in the Invisalign process is the initial consultation. This will be our opportunity to examine your oral condition and determine whether you are eligible for Invisalign or if we need to recommend alternative discreet straightening options. It is also your chance to learn more about the process and whether Invisalign is right for you.
Whilst Invisalign promises excellent results, it’s not always well-suited for patients requiring severe orthodontic treatment.
During this initial appointment, we will also explain how Invisalign works, the treatment protocol, and an estimate of how long your treatment might last if you decide to proceed.

2. Bespoke moulds and custom-fitting
Once you’re happy to progress, we’ll get the ball rolling immediately.
Our Platinum Elite Invisalign dentist will take photos, x-rays, and scans of your teeth and jaw. This is where you’ll truly experience the difference with Invisalign.
Invisalign uses advanced technology and software that allow for more accurate planning:
- Using the iTero scanner, we will capture thousands of images of your smile in minutes, enabling us to map how your smile will transform at each stage of treatment.
- Using the smile simulator and ClinCheck software, we can eliminate the guesswork from adult braces. For example, patients can preview their finished smiles and make adjustments.
Usually, this is the only mould we will need, as you will receive your new aligners as you go, without the need to take new images or see us again. The only time you will go through the process again is when the dentist is unhappy with the treatment’s progress.

3. Wear your aligners
We’ll send the treatment plan and diagnostics to the specialist Invisalign lab, where Invisalign doctors will manufacture your custom aligners.
This process is even faster, as we upload them digitally and avoid delays often caused by posting.
Within a few weeks, you will receive your aligners in trays, be ready to wear them and begin treatment.
The likely process involves changing your aligner trays every two to three weeks to keep moving your teeth into their successive, gradual positions.
Then, over the next few months, you will visit us for a check-up so we can monitor your progress, pick up your next set of aligners and be ready to go again.

The amazing results
Once you have completed your last set of trays, you’re done. Depending on your case, some patients will receive a removable retainer to wear at night to prevent the risk of retention.
However, if you tend to forget your retainer, we can help you qualify for a permanent retainer instead.
And that’s it. Can you see how easy Invisalign can be?
Treatment length can vary case by case.
Because Invisalign offers multiple systems, treatment length depends on which one is best for you. Treatment can take three to eighteen months.
