The NHS accepts dental emergencies, including dental abscesses, tooth pain, swelling, infections, bleeding, and trauma.
Private clinics access a wider range of emergencies, including cosmetic emergencies like broken teeth, damaged crowns, fallen-out veneers or implants, and lost teeth.
The cost is split into two
Just like when booking a check-up as a new patient to assess your oral health, you’ll pay a fee for your appointment; the same can be said for an emergency appointment.
Patients will pay anywhere from £100 to £250 privately to be seen immediately by an emergency dentist, with prices varying depending on the time of appointment, for example, weekends or out-of-hours.
The second half of the costs will typically involve scans and x-rays, prescriptions, and remedial treatment, so it’s important to factor in and budget any additional costs you might face.
Some dentists, like us, will include scans and X-rays in your emergency appointment fee, whereas some other dental practices might not.
Out-of-hours emergency appointments cost more privately
Emergency dental fees during regular working hours are the most affordable. Still, patients who need emergency appointments, for example, between 12 a.m. and 9 a.m., might end up paying as much as £500 to see an on-call emergency dentist.
Appointment fees for evening appointments vary between £150 and £350. The cost does not include treatment. We charge from £105.
Patients should only go to A&E for dental emergencies if they have trauma to the face or mouth, heavy bleeding, or severe swelling of the eyes, lips, mouth, or throat that could impact their ability to breathe.

Your emergency appointment fee covers the evaluation of your condition and the determination of the cause of your pain or unusual symptoms.
Patients should note that the more extensive the problem, the more extensive the treatments might be, which may cost more than their typical dental treatments.
